ABOUT KEENE, NEW HAMPSHIRE
Keene is located in Cheshire County in the heart of the Monadnock Region. It has been called the Currier and Ives corner of New Hampshire. Geographically situated in the heart of New England, residents and visitors have easy access to and from several popular metropolitan areas. In a few hours or less you can be in Boston, Hartford-Springfield, Montreal, Portland, or New York.
Recently, the National Trust for Historic Preservation has named Keene to its list of "America's Dozen Distinctive Destinations" due to the city's well-managed growth, commitment to historic preservation, attractive architecture, cultural diversity, activities for families with children, economic base of locally-owned small businesses, and walkability for residents and visitors. The Monadnock Region is home to two respected liberal arts colleges and a nationally recognized graduate school. It is also home to an international music school, an artist colony and numerous individual writers and artisans.
